Here is an amazing video of the guitar legend Mississippi John Hurt. I was pretty excited when I found this video because I love Mr. Hurt's playing style and you can see what he is doing pretty well in this video. He has such a great voice and I hope his music continues to live on for many more years! |
According to personal biography of his life John Hurt learn to love and appreciate music and guitar playing from William H Carson, a man infatuated with his teacher at the St. James School, located in Avalon, Mississippi. John Hurt stated, " I wasn't allowed to bother Mr. Carson's guitar. I would wait until he feel asleep at my house, then I would slip his guitar into my room and try to play. There I learned to play the guitar at the age of nine years old. After that, my mother bought me a second hand guitar at the price of $1.50! 1 can tell you there was no beautiful sound than my own guitar music. I was playing for country dances at the same time working very hard on a farm new Avalon Mississippi." |

One word...Incredible. Another awesome example of the possibilities that exist for how to play the guitar. These 'piano-style' musicians are pretty amazing in their technique and sound, and this guy goes one more step and adds a percussive element to his style. |
This is Erik Mongrain performing some of his amazing guitar tapping. This guy is just awesome. |

This video is awesome for lots of reasons but mosty it's Paul's hair and green suit. Yeah and it's a pretty great tapping lesson too. All this combined with Japanese subtitles makes this a AAA video of the week. If you don't know who Paul Gilbert is, you should, check him out here. |
